Anuradha (Anu) Beniwal started played chess at the age of six and became Indian sub junior champion at the age of 15. As a junior, she played in many national and international tournaments and represented India at the World Sub-Junior Championship in Spain in 2001.

 

Anu quit playing competitive chess in 2003 to pursue her studies; she has a Masterís in English Literature and writes Hindi poems, see no-dimension.blogspot.com.

 

Anu started her own chess academy in India, where she combined chess and yoga for the wholesome mind development of her students. She moved to London in 2013 and continued her love of teaching chess to children by involving herself with CSC. Anu also plays for the Drunken Knights in the London League and for Cambridge in the 4NCL.

 

Aside from chess Anu loves travelling, and has backpacked around India on her own. Anu promotes solo travelling for women and writes about her travels on her website hobokettle.com. Next on her agenda is to travel around Europe solo and write about her experiences, meet new people, and get to know new cultures. Anu is also a keen amateur cook and shares her recipes on request!
