Alex Holowczak graduated from Aston University in 2012 with a BSc in Mathematics.


He was awarded the FIDE title of International Arbiter in September 2012, and elected as Director of Home Chess for the ECF in October 2012.


Alex is the youngest International Arbiter in England, and the youngest Director in the history of the English Chess Federation.


He is an active player in the Birmingham League, where he has run junior teams for two seasons. Alex has been involved in coaching in various schools around Birmingham since 2008, and served as Warwickshire Junior Secretary for two years.


Away from chess, Alex is an ECB-qualified cricket umpire and scorer.
