Whilst in college, Andrew Legge was inspired by Nigel Short’s world championship run to learn the game properly, subsequently joining the local chess club, progressing to playing in the first division county leagues and competing successfully in grand prix tournaments.

Following an invitation to teach chess to a neighbourhood Y6 class, he started coaching in state and private schools across Merseyside, as well as offering private chess tuition. He also ran a junior academy in the chess club, and one of his private pupils qualified for the England Junior Squad.

After some time spent in the IT industry, Andrew has returned to coaching under the auspices of CSC, and likes thinking of creative and unusual ways to explain ideas to the children.
