A strong club and county player, with over 30 years of playing experience. Paul McKeown’s first coaching experience was at the age of eleven, when he persuaded his primary school's Headmaster to purchase some boards and sets. He then taught his classmates, and subsequently thrashed them in the school's championship!

After many years working in IT, Paul has now been teaching chess for the past four years, with CSC, and privately. He has taught children of all abilities from absolute beginners to several involved in formal junior competitions, with one having come third in the British Under 9 Championship. Amongst many other coaching activities, Paul has set up and run the Fulham Junior Chess Club.
