Andrew Wilson has been involved with organising junior chess in the Manchester area for 20 years and started teaching chess in schools in 1995, mainly in Salford and Bolton. His rating has stayed stubbornly around 2000 (ECF 175) during that time.

A personal highlight was playing a tournament game with the legendary David Bronstein. Andrew has made a particular effort to encourage girls’ chess. He has coached a number of children who have subsequently represented England in junior events and one of his teams from Bolton Junior Girls School is current (2013) ECF National Girls Under 11 champions. Andrew teaches at three schools in Bolton for CSC.
