Governor of Ireland visits one of our chess lessons in action, below is her glowing praise.

"Thank you for my visit to the chess sessions yesterday with year 5. I couldn't believe how attentive and keen all the children were. Chess is really hard, but they were all engaged the whole session. Mr Mullan is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about chess and talks to the children in a very calm, quiet manner, showing his enthusiasm. The children respond so well. The skill development in all the children was amazing. There was a special pawn game for Lewis, which he entered into with glee. His joy on winning several times was a delight to see. The behaviour of the two classes was exemplary.

When many schools are cutting enrichment activities it is significant that Ireland Wood is offering such activities"
