Secondary School Chess Clubs If you are looking to develop chess activities at a secondary school,CSC can help. We already run after-school chess clubs in secondaryschools across the country and have supported many more schoolsto establish their own provision. We can offer access to tournamentsagainst other schools, both locally and nationally. We can alsoprovide your pupils with accounts in our online club for secondaryschools. How can CSC help you run your own chess club at school? If you are a member of school staff and want to set up and run yourown chess club, CSC can provide the following completely free ofcharge to UK state schools: • Equipment and resources. CSC will supply chess sets andboards for any school interested in establishing a regularclub.• Staff training. CSC holds regular training courses. Thesecover our curriculum, techniques for teaching chess, andideas for running a school club. The course is designed forteachers and teaching assistants who want to run their ownchess activities at their school. How can CSC deliver a chess club at your school? If you would like a CSC to run an after-school club, we have anationwide network tutors to call upon. All our tutors have excellentsubject knowledge and have been trained to deliver the CSCCurriculum in schools. All have enhanced DBS certificates andundergo regular safeguarding training. CSC will provide all the equipment and learning resources required,and training for members of staff who want to support the chessactivities. By joining our Schools’ Programme, you will be givenpriority booking to the Schools' Festival at the London Chess Classicheld each December at Kensington Olympia, London.As part of this package, you may also wish to consider adding somechess enrichment classes during the school day.
