Delivery models On-site delivery Where possible, CSC delivers chess sessions in person, in the school classroom. We have a network of experienced and DBS-checked tutors who run lessons and clubs in schools across the country. Lessons typically last 45-60 minutes and are delivered to full classes of 30 children with a school teacher or teaching assistant in support. Clubs typically last one hour and are suitable for up to 30 pupils. Online delivery Where it is not possible for a CSC tutor to attend a school, we can also offer online lessons. These are delivered via Zoom or similar platforms and follow the CSC Curriculum as usual. CSC can provide basic ChessKid accounts to support this provision. Our tutors have received additional training to ensure online lessons provide the same benefits to our schools as our standard delivery. A member of school staff is required in the classroom to actively manage the lessons. We will support that member of staff with lesson plans and training where necessary. Online Chess Clubs As an alternative to a standard, in-person chess club, CSC can offer an online chess club through ChessKid. Rather than being at a fixed time, children work at their chess in their own time and at their own pace through their Gold ChessKid accounts. Our tutors can offer advice, review progress, organise tournaments and other competitions, and recommend regular lessons. Adapting to Covid CSC managed to maintain its weekly provision of lessons in 140 schools throughout the pandemic. We achieved this by adapting our deliver models to suit the needs of individual schools. Some schools received on-site delivery with additional safety measures, while others had lessons streamed to their classrooms or even to their pupils at home. Tutors recorded weekly lessons which were then distributed by their schools via Google Classroom. CSC also adapted its school curriculum to make it more accessible to parents supporting their children's learning at home. That content is freely available here. Manage Cookie Preferences
