CSC Junior Grand Prix Kicks Off
The CSC Junior Grand Prix is a series of tournaments held in north London, organised by CSC, and supported by a generous sponsor. In each tournament there are five sections: U18, U14, U12, U10, U8. The leading scorers in each section receive vouchers offering free one-to-one tuition from CSC-accredited tutors. The results of each tournament are aggregated, leading to overall Grand Prix winners in each age category. Coaching vouchers are awarded to the highest scorers in each category at the end of the series. The CSC Junior Grand Prix is open to all juniors with ECF Gold Membership (first year is offered free by the ECF). Entry is free for children from CSC schools.
Now in its third year, the 2026 edition of the CSC Junior Grand Prix kicked off in some style at South Hampstead High School on Saturday 14th March. A record 181 children took part and enjoyed a full day of competitive chess. The play was of an excellent standard, with the top seeds being rated above 1500 in every section apart from the U8s. We were delighted to see over 40 children from our Schools’ Programme take part. For many of them it was their first venture into rated competitions and we’re sure it won’t be their last.
The full lists of results can be found here. Our thanks to all competitors, parents, and CSC tutors for making it such a successful and enjoyable day. We are now taking entries for the second round of the 2026 CSC Junior Grand Prix which will be held on 16th May. For more details, see here.
