Our 3000th School!
CSC supports schools in many ways: supplying tutors to run a chess club or to deliver curriculum lessons, training teachers to run activities in their own schools, giving access to our curriculum and other learning resources, and by supplying free chess equipment. The charity was founded in late 2009 and over the past 16 years has supported schools across the UK, giving hundreds of thousands of children the opportunity to develop educational and social skills, and to gain a lifelong love for the game of chess.
After half-term, we’ll begin working at St Marylebone CE Bridge School in Queen’s Park, London, running chess lessons for a group of Year 10 students every Friday morning. St Marylebone is a special free school that provides a high quality education for pupils aged 11- 16 with Education Health and Care Plans, whose primary needs relate to their Speech, Language and Communication. We are delighted to be working with the school and are sure that its students will love their chess lessons. It is also the 3000th school that CSC will have supported!
To celebrate this landmark, we are sending all of the St Marylebone students taking part in these chess lessons their own CSC magnetic chess set so they can continue their learning outside the classroom. We will be following their progress with interest.
