ChessFest Liverpool

Sunday 20th July saw ChessFest return to Liverpool for a fifth time. Held in Chevasse Park at Liverpool ONE, the event drew in well over 1,000 visitors who enjoyed a range of fun, free, family-friendly chess activities.

Grandmaster Stephen Gordon was present throughout, taking on all-comers in a simultaneous display. CSC tutors were on-hand to give free chess lessons to players of all standards, while CSC’s Regional Organiser for Merseyside, Rob Steele, ran a highly competitive blitz tournament. Visitors could also enjoy chess on a giant board and were treated to some fantastic performances from Ukrainian singers and dancers.

Even the wet weather couldn’t dampen our visitors’ spirits and a great day was had by all. Our thanks to Liverpool ONE, Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Bid Company, and the Merseyside Chess Association for all their support.
