CSC was delighted to be able to hold a tournament for children from its many schools in the London Borough of Newham. Held in the magnificent setting of Stratford Old Town Hall, the event drew over 120 children from across the borough, competing for individual medals and a trophy for the winning team.

Before the serious games began, the children settled down to lessons from CSC tutors. They then had the chance to test their skills in simultaneous games before the tournament commenced. After a highly competitive event, Gallions Primary School emerged as the winning team, making their CSC tutor, Alan, a very proud man!

Alongside the children's event, an equally serious competition took place. Several of the boroughs' councillors and officers took part in their own chess tournament, run by International Arbiter Aga Milewska. The chess was of a very high standard, with Cllr Terry Paul edging out the competition and taking home the trophy.
