The 2^nd North Staffordshire High School Chess Championships

This tournament took place at Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy on Wednesday February 15th 2023. Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, this year 12 schools and 79 pupils took part, making it the largest such tournament ever held in Stoke. 

The event attracted schools from across North Staffordshire and beyond. There was a wide range of experience, from beginners to highly proficient players. For many children, it was their first ever experience of tournament play and left them eager to learn more and come back stronger players. 

Newcastle-under-Lyme School were our winners this year, closely followed by Denstone College.
