CSC was delighted to return to the historic Livery Hall at London's Guildhall for the 4th edition of the City of London Schools' Chess Tournament. A record 117 children from 10 different schools took part in a full day of chess activities:

City of London Academy Highbury Grove
City of London Academy Islington
City of London Academy Southwark
City of London Academy Shoreditch Park
City of London School
City of London School for Girls
Christ’s Hospital
King Edward’s Witley
Redriff Primary
The Aldgate School

In the morning the children received a chess lesson from one of our tutors, honing their skills for the 6-round tournament that took place in the afternoon. Secondary and primary pupils competed together, from Year 3 to Year 13. The younger players were not to be outdone, a Year 5 pupil from Redriff Primary School putting in a remarkable performance to share first prize with a score of 17 points out of 18.

Medals were awarded for the highest individual scores and the leading primary and secondary schools both took home trophies:

Winning primary school: The Aldgate School
Winning secondary school: City of London Academy Highbury Grove.

Well done to all our fantastic chess players!
