Alison Sharp

Alison Sharp is the recently retired head teacher of Ravenscroft Primary School in the London Borough of Newham. Ravenscroft was the first primary school in the CSC programme and has maintained strong links with the charity ever since.  Having seen the sustained benefits of chess in primary schools, Alison is a strong advocate of the social, emotional and academic strengths that chess helps to develop in children.

Andrew Farthing

A chess enthusiast (if mediocre player) since the age of eleven, Andrew Farthing is an Honorary Life Vice President and former Chief Executive of the English Chess Federation and occasional organiser of chess events.  Now retired, his professional background was in banking, specialising in risk management and regulatory compliance and with knowledge of financial analysis and strategic planning, as well as general management.  In addition to his involvement with Chess in Schools & Communities, he is a trustee of Age UK Sandwell and a volunteer for his local hospice in Worcester.
