In the summer term, CSC hosts end-of-year tournaments in many of its schools. These give our pupils the chance to put their chess skills to the test, either against their classmates or against children from other schools. For most of the children, this will be their first experience of competitive chess and we hope it inspires some of them to seek further opportunities outside the CSC Schools' Programme.

CSC recently ran a tournament for Wylye Valley Primary School in Wiltshire. The school is relatively new to our programme, having only begun lessons this academic year. However, their enthusiasm for chess is clearly evident - over half the school took part, nearly 70 children from years three to six.

The tournament was run in two sections, over five rounds, and was coordinated by CSC Regional Organiser Paul Girdlestone, ably supported by school staff. Our congratulations to all those who took part!
